La Dra. Karla Saavedra Rodriguez obtuvo su licenciatura en Biología en la Facultad de Ciencias Biológicas de la UANL en 1998; Maestría en Ciencias con Especialidad en Entomología Médica por la Facultad de Ciencias Biológicas de la UANL en 2004; Doctorado en Ciencias con especialidad en Entomología Médica por la Facultad de Ciencias Biológicas de la UANL en 2008. Es Investigador Científico de tiempo completo en Colorado State University en Fort Collins, Colorado, E.U.A. desde el 2013.  Su trabajo en investigación involucra el estudio de las bases genéticas de la resistencia a insecticidas y genética de poblaciones en artrópodos vectores de enfermedades.
